A testing grant lets you compare choices earlier. It does not make every perk equally useful for the activity you want to play.
Beta testing and normal progression are different
The October 8 notes grant all beta players 16 Legacy Points. Beta Legacy talent respecs start at 1 silver, with the cost stepping down over time. This is a beta-specific testing change, not the normal launch unlock path.
Our Legacy system overview explains the announced progression design. Use that overview for the system's structure and the current patch notes for the beta exception. If the UI is not offering the grant as expected, record the realm and character context before assuming a progression requirement is responsible.
Pick one perk question
Choose a problem you can notice during an ordinary session. Do you repeatedly stop to recover? Does traveling dominate your evening? Is a talent milestone central to the idea you want to test? Write a short question before allocating points.
Separate convenience from combat performance. A perk that makes the activity feel smoother may be valuable to you even when it does not change damage. Likewise, one faster pull does not establish a universal best allocation. Your goal is to connect a choice with an observable result.
Our three-pass comparison
- Baseline: save your current setup and perform a familiar activity. Note the level, spells used, equipment and perk state.
- Single change: make one relevant Legacy change. Keep the other conditions as similar as practical and repeat the activity.
- Revisit: check the original setup again if the apparent improvement could have come from learning the route.
Use small notes rather than a long narrative: recovery stops, time spent traveling, actions attempted and what interrupted the run. If the comparison is uneven, say why. A failed experiment can still show that the original question needs better controls.
Keep class points and Legacy choices distinct
Our class talent calculator currently models the baseline point budget from level 10. It does not apply Legacy perks that change when points become available. A class-only saved link is therefore not a complete description of a Legacy-enabled character.
Save the class link alongside the Legacy perk names and ranks you actually used. If your in-game class budget differs from the planner, record that difference instead of forcing the live setup into the baseline model. Use the level-30 talent guide to understand the model's limits.
Plan changes before spending
The lowest respec cost is not a promise that every repeated change will cost the same. Read the live confirmation amount before accepting it. Decide the sequence of comparisons first, and avoid resetting several unrelated choices simply because they are available.
At the end, keep the configuration you prefer and write one sentence explaining why. A useful beta result includes the activity, the setup and the tradeoff. That makes it easier to revisit after the next patch and easier for another player to judge whether your conclusion applies to them.
