Researching the Corruption

Basis: public beta records, with our editorial planning advice. Not independently playtested.

What the record establishes

Gershala Nightwhisper in Auberdine asks for eight Corrupted Brain Stems. The source names satyr and naga in Blackfathom Deeps and lists The Corruption Abroad as the preceding quest.

Suggested approach

1. Resolve acceptance first

Check whether Gershala offers this step and whether the preceding task is complete. Discovering an unavailable collection after the dungeon trip can cost another journey.

2. Confirm the collection as you clear

Track your personal stem count after eligible loot. Tell the group you still need this collection rather than using boss progress as a proxy for quest completion.

3. Finish the inventory check

Before leaving, inspect the eight-item objective. Plan the handover in Auberdine and compare selectable rewards with your equipped items using their current tooltips.

Planning notes

This is a collection that can remain unfinished even when a group has achieved its combat goal. Check your outstanding quantity at natural pauses and before an exit. Because the source names two creature families, the productive question is which eligible encounters remain, not an invented universal drop percentage.

Quests to compare with this plan

• Knowledge in the Deeps — Another collection to mention to the group; return is in Ironforge.
• Blackfathom Villainy — A distinct boss-item objective in the same dungeon.
