A build becomes useful when you can explain what each choice is meant to solve. Start with an activity and a level, then use the calculator to check the structure of your plan.
Start at your intended character level
Open the talent calculator, select your class, and change Character level before spending points. The planner opens at 60 to support a full plan; that setting does not establish the current beta's playable cap.
In this calculator's baseline model, points begin at level 10 and the budget rises by one per level, reaching 51 at 60. A level-20 plan therefore has 11 points. The separate Legacy perk system can affect in-game progression; this planner does not model Legacy perks or equipment effects. Compare its baseline assumptions with your character before treating the allocation as an in-game entitlement.
Learn the controls with one small change
On desktop, left-click an icon to add one point and right-click to remove one. Hover over a talent or focus it with the keyboard to read its rank information. On touch screens, tap an icon to add a point and use the selected-talent panel's Remove point button to refund it.
A click on a locked talent can show its details without spending a point. Read the status message and the selected-talent requirements before assuming the click failed. The calculator adds one point per click; it does not offer a Shift-click shortcut for purchasing every rank.
Understand tiers and prerequisite arrows
Every deeper tier requires five more points in earlier tiers of the same tree. Spending points in another tree does not unlock that tier. A prerequisite arrow also requires the named preceding talent at maximum rank.
For example, a Warrior planning at level 20 can allocate three first-tier points to Improved Heroic Strike and two to Deflection, then inspect the second tier. This demonstrates the five-point structural threshold; it is not a recommended Warrior build. Individual talents can still have a prerequisite, and every further point must fit the total level budget.
Removing a foundational point is blocked if it would make another purchased talent invalid. Refund dependent choices first, or use the tree's Reset button. Reset build refunds the complete allocation. Lowering Character level may also refund choices to keep the plan within its new budget and requirements.
Compare two plans with a written question
Choose one question, such as whether a proposed allocation gives you the tools you want for an outdoor session or a group role. Save the first build link, change the allocation, and save a second link. Put a sentence beside each explaining which problem it is intended to address.
Read rank-specific effects at the linked source when a talent matters to that comparison. A valid allocation only proves that the planner's structural rules are satisfied. It cannot establish damage output, healing throughput, survivability, or the best choice for a live encounter. Those conclusions need current evidence from comparable gameplay.
Save and reopen the whole link
Use Share build. The link records the class through its page address and the level, ranks, and dataset version in the URL fragment after the # symbol. If clipboard access is unavailable, a text field appears so you can copy the complete link yourself.
Keep the fragment when pasting into your notes or a conversation. Removing it leaves the class page without that allocation. Reopen the link before relying on it, especially after a dataset update. The planner rejects incompatible saved versions instead of silently applying old ranks to a changed tree.
A final check before trying the plan
- Confirm the selected class and level.
- Check each key rank and prerequisite at the current source.
- State which activity the allocation is intended for.
- Keep Legacy perks and live beta changes separate from the baseline plan.
- Reopen the shared link and confirm the allocation matches.
