Choose the activity first, then choose the Warrior tree. A build that solves your solo recovery problem may leave out the control, group support or defensive options you want in another session.
Which Warrior build should you start with?
Our recommended starting points at the current beta cap are:
- Leveling — Arms: two-handed questing: Solo melee damage.
- Dungeon — Protection: shield tank: Dungeon tank.
- PvP — Arms/Fury: stance economy and area control: Melee pressure with area movement control.
These are editorial recommendations based on the current public talent records, not independently playtested rankings. Every allocation spends 21 points at level 30. A legal calculator tree does not confirm your trained spell ranks, equipment or live server behavior.

Why we recommend this starting plan
- A focused Arms route reaches Sweeping Strikes at level 30 instead of dividing the budget between trees.
- Rend and Deep Wounds establish the required path into Impale; the weapon specialization assumes a two-handed weapon.
- Tactical Mastery and Anger Management support Rage continuity rather than adding Fury critical chance.
The allocated talents
Point order from level 10 to 30
This order reaches the allocation above while satisfying the current tier and prerequisite rules. Each level adds one point; it is a planning path rather than a timed leveling route.
- Levels 10–12: Improved Rend — add 3, reach rank 3.
- Levels 13–14: Deflection — add 2, reach rank 2.
- Levels 15–19: Improved Tactical Mastery — add 5, reach rank 5.
- Level 20: Anger Management — add 1, reach rank 1.
- Levels 21–23: Deep Wounds — add 3, reach rank 3.
- Level 24: Deflection — add 1, reach rank 3.
- Levels 25–27: Two-Handed Weapon Specialization — add 3, reach rank 3.
- Levels 28–29: Impale — add 2, reach rank 2.
- Level 30: Sweeping Strikes — add 1, reach rank 1.
How to play around the choices
- Budget Rage before engaging a second enemy; Sweeping Strikes is a controlled two-target option, not permission to overpull.
- Reapply Rend when its duration is useful; check whether an enemy will survive long enough for a bleed.
- Use the actual trained abilities on your character; this plan does not require Whirlwind.
No Protection emergency talent or Fury critical-chance investment. Cleave value falls when enemies are isolated.
When to choose another planFor a dungeon damage role, this same allocation can be a starting point. The separate dungeon recommendation below is a shield tank.

Why we recommend this starting plan
- Shield Specialization and Master of Defense reward shield-based defense with Rage.
- Defiance is conditional on Defensive Stance and an equipped shield; plan equipment and stance together.
- Vanguard keeps Charge available in Defensive Stance, while Concussion Blow adds a control button at 30.
The allocated talents
Point order from level 10 to 30
This order reaches the allocation above while satisfying the current tier and prerequisite rules. Each level adds one point; it is a planning path rather than a timed leveling route.
- Levels 10–14: Shield Specialization — add 5, reach rank 5.
- Levels 15–17: Anticipation — add 3, reach rank 3.
- Levels 18–19: Improved Thunder Clap — add 2, reach rank 2.
- Level 20: Last Stand — add 1, reach rank 1.
- Levels 21–22: Master of Defense — add 2, reach rank 2.
- Levels 23–25: Defiance — add 3, reach rank 3.
- Level 26: Vanguard — add 1, reach rank 1.
- Levels 27–29: Improved Sunder Armor — add 3, reach rank 3.
- Level 30: Concussion Blow — add 1, reach rank 1.
How to play around the choices
- Equip a shield and agree pull size with your healer before testing the build.
- Use Sunder Armor deliberately rather than spending all Rage on damage; its talent lowers the resource cost.
- Treat Last Stand as temporary health and Concussion Blow as target control; neither replaces a sustainable pull plan.
Twenty-one points in Protection leave no Arms damage engine. Boss immunities can reduce the value of a stun.
When to choose another planIf joining as damage, use the Arms questing route rather than expecting this tank allocation to perform the same job.

Why we recommend this starting plan
- Piercing Howl supplies an on-demand area Daze for nearby enemies, a more directly usable level-30 control choice than situational mounted-target utility.
- Improved Tactical Mastery preserves additional Rage when changing between stances your character has learned.
- Cruelty and Unbridled Wrath support melee pressure, while Deflection provides the opening Arms investment.
The allocated talents
Point order from level 10 to 30
This order reaches the allocation above while satisfying the current tier and prerequisite rules. Each level adds one point; it is a planning path rather than a timed leveling route.
- Levels 10–14: Deflection — add 5, reach rank 5.
- Levels 15–19: Improved Tactical Mastery — add 5, reach rank 5.
- Levels 20–24: Cruelty — add 5, reach rank 5.
- Levels 25–29: Unbridled Wrath — add 5, reach rank 5.
- Level 30: Piercing Howl — add 1, reach rank 1.
How to play around the choices
- Keep Rage available when you expect to use Piercing Howl rather than emptying the bar for damage.
- Use the area Daze to help create or close distance; it is a movement slow, not a root or stun.
- Only plan stance changes around stances and abilities currently trained on your character.
Splitting 10 Arms / 11 Fury gives up Sweeping Strikes, Deep Wounds/Impale investment, and any deeper-tree capstone. It favors available control over a concentrated damage route.
When to choose another planFor a damage-first two-handed route, the full Arms leveling allocation is an alternative; it loses Piercing Howl.
Warrior checks before you commit
- October 8 restored Deep Wounds as an Impale prerequisite and fixed several Rage calculations. This route includes that prerequisite. Whirlwind is listed at level 36, so it is not part of the level-30 plan.
For a dungeon, confirm the role with your group before changing talents. A healing or tanking recommendation here is for that stated role; a damage seat may need a different allocation and equipment. Read the alternative in the dungeon section rather than assuming one tree covers every assignment.
The PvP plan describes control, survival or support priorities at this point budget. It does not establish that every battleground, bracket or ability is available in the current beta. Check your character's trained abilities and the activity's current access before arranging a session.
Adjust one decision, then compare the whole session
Open the calculator link and save the initial allocation. Test against comparable opponents or pulls with the same gear, then change one decision. For leveling, include recovery and travel interruptions; for dungeons, include the group's pace and mistakes; for PvP, separate surviving an opener from contributing after it. Those observations help you decide whether this recommendation fits the activity you actually play.
Do not spend imaginary points on a higher-tier talent: the level-30 budget is 21. If a prerequisite changes after a patch, read the calculator's validation message before reusing an old link. The point-order panel on every build has been checked against the same rules as the calculator.
