A patch can leave a talent allocation legal while changing how it plays. This guide separates a moved node, a changed effect and a new spell so you can decide what needs rebuilding before the next session.

Does your old build still work?

All nine calculators now use the public build 1.60.1.70425 layout and October 16 source hotfix text. Our 27 level-30 recommendations have been checked again, including every purchase from level 10 to 30. The Warlock leveling plan renames Malediction to Grim Reach; the Priest dungeon plan changes its purchase order to satisfy the moved Shield talent.

An older supported share link is decoded using its original talent-name order. Removed talents, excess ranks and broken prerequisites refund points. Read the message and inspect the resulting tree; a successful conversion does not prove unchanged combat performance.

Choose the class you actually play

Warrior: changes and your next check

Battle Shout now reaches the raid, and Slam is no longer subject to spell pushback. The published fixes also address Overpower against much lower-level enemies.

Planning implication: For a dungeon, check who supplies Battle Shout before duplicating a support task. Compare your actual trained attacks at level 30; raid-wide coverage does not add extra talent points.

Paladin: changes and your next check

Salvation and Mass Salvation replace the former blessings without occupying a blessing choice. Revoke removes them. Reckoning stores up to four charges; Champion of the Light now grants 10/20/30% of Intellect as spell damage.

Planning implication: A tank should agree who receives Salvation and verify live training access. Ret players should recheck their current tooltip before comparing an earlier damage result; the same allocation can behave differently after tuning.

Hunter: changes and your next check

Auto Shot now needs 0.5 seconds standing still. Fire and Ice traps may coexist, pets benefit from Expertise, and several pet-family control abilities were tuned.

Planning implication: Keep movement and pet family fixed when comparing builds. Practice the stop-and-shoot rhythm before attributing a missed shot to a talent choice. A stronger tooltip does not establish the best pet for every encounter.

Rogue: changes and your next check

Sap no longer has a chance to activate weapon procs. Rogue poisons no longer trigger incorrectly on attackers, and swapping specializations no longer preserves full Energy.

Planning implication: Review opener timing with the gear and poison you actually use. Do not plan a dungeon or PvP sequence around the removed specialization-swap behavior.

Priest: changes and your next check

Mental Strength moves to tier 2 and Improved Power Word: Shield to tier 3. The Shadow tree gains Dark Inspiration and moves Improved Mind Blast. Devouring Plague and Shadow Word: Death have different cooldowns.

Planning implication: The dungeon recommendation keeps its final 21 points but now buys ten earlier-tier points before Improved Power Word: Shield. Use the new point-order panel rather than an old screenshot. Check removed talents when reopening a saved Shadow plan.

Shaman: changes and your next check

Elemental Alacrity moves earlier; Lava Burst becomes the 21-point choice and Elemental Mastery the 31-point choice. Call of Thunder is removed. Restoration swaps Tidal Focus and Totemic Focus.

Planning implication: At level 30 you can spend 21 baseline points, so the 31-point Elemental Mastery remains beyond this model. Check the new prerequisite arrows before copying an Elemental plan; Grace of Air can now coexist with Windfury or Flametongue.

Mage: changes and your next check

Missile Barrage moves to the first tier with two ranks. Arcane Wrath is added; Fire Power and Critical Mass change rank counts. The October 16 source hotfix snapshot also swaps Permafrost and Frostbite positions.

Planning implication: Inspect the new node names before rebuilding from a screenshot. The calculator uses the source hotfix tooltip for Winter’s Chill; Blizzard’s announcement contains two different descriptions. Check the live tooltip before deciding how to spend those points.

Warlock: changes and your next check

Malediction is replaced by the two-rank Grim Reach. Shadow Mastery now grants 2/4/6/8/10% Shadow damage, and the notes include a Soul Link fix.

Planning implication: Our leveling plan now names Grim Reach and keeps the same 21-point budget. Older links with more than two points in the renamed node refund the excess; do not assume an old five-point investment survives unchanged.

Druid: changes and your next check

Shred rank 1 moves to level 20. Furor retains the Energy you had before entering Bear or Dire Bear form, while those forms still prevent Energy regeneration. Several form and talent application bugs were addressed.

Planning implication: Separate stored Energy from Energy regeneration when testing a form change. Recheck the live tooltip and trained Shred rank; an old rotation screenshot may rely on a different rank or form interaction.

A moved talent does not create more points

The examples use the baseline model: one class point per level from 10, for 21 points at level 30. A talent placed behind 30 earlier points remains outside that plan. This model does not apply Legacy timing bonuses. Check the points your live character actually has before copying a higher-tier setup.

When the announcement and tooltip disagree

The official Mage notes contain two Winter’s Chill descriptions. The current community hotfix extraction uses the later wording: each stack increases damage from the next Cone of Cold by 5% and adds 7% of spell damage, up to five stacks. The source also removes Arcane Missiles hits from Missile Barrage’s trigger text. We display the dated source tooltip and keep the announcement linked instead of combining the two versions into an invented effect.

For your own comparison, save the current tree and keep equipment, opponent and activity consistent. Record recovery and movement interruptions as well as the largest hit. Recheck your trained rank after a spell-learning change; a talent point cannot train a missing ability.
